What we do
The London Marathon Foundation is the parent charity of London Marathon Events (LME), and every year, LME’s surplus is donated to the Foundation as corporate Gift Aid. This, along with other donations and interest, is used by the Foundation to fund projects that inspire activity. Since 1981, more than £120 million has been awarded to 1,800 projects supporting people across the UK to lead active and healthy lives.
In addition to the statistics provided below, we estimate that several hundred thousand people use London Marathon Foundation funded facilities every single week. For example, we know that in 2025 alone, there were more than 550,000 instances of children, young people, and adults taking part in physical activity at sites funded by the Foundation within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
People engaged in physical activity across the UK through the work we’re funding with our Strategic Partners to make physical activity accessible for all.

See our funding in action
We direct our funding towards children, young people and adults who face the biggest barriers to being active with a particular focus on children and young people. Our funding also reaches people with disabilities, older people, and people from lower socio-economic groups. Our funding means more people can support their physical, mental and social wellbeing by being active.
