What we do

The London Marathon Foundation is the parent charity of London Marathon Events (LME), and every year, LME’s surplus is donated to the Foundation as corporate Gift Aid. This, along with other donations and interest, is used by the Foundation to fund projects that inspire activity. Since 1981, more than £114 million has been awarded to 1,750 projects supporting people across the UK to lead active and healthy lives.

People engaged in physical activity across the UK through the work we’re funding with our Strategic Partners to make physical activity accessible for all.

Our Funding Programmes

Active Spaces Fund

Improving spaces, places and facilities for physical activity in London

Collaborative Funding

Teaming up with other funding organisations to inspire activity, combine effort and simplify funding

Strategic Partnerships

Funding partners across the UK to use the power of sport and physical activity to change lives

See our funding in action

We direct our funding towards children, young people and adults who face the biggest barriers to being active with a particular focus on children and young people. Our funding also reaches people with disabilities, older people, and people from lower socio-economic groups. Our funding means more people can support their physical, mental and social wellbeing by being active.
